Influenced by their love for culture, fashion, and their African roots,
designers Anrette Ngafor and Kibonen Nfi weave traditional and
contemporary styles to bring African-inspired designs to the streets of
New York .Hatched in the New York chic bubble, KiRette NY is mainly
inspired by the "toghu" (also known as the Bamenda gown) - a colourful
and intricately embroidered fabric typically worn, on special
occasions, by the people of the North West and Western provinces in
Cameroon. Although the "toghu" cloth is KiRette NY's signature fabric,
their designs are not limited to it.
Kamondi! Tailored Suits and Shirts Exclusively for Women
Born
in Uganda and raised in the United Kingdom, friends Emma Mohamed and
Sonia Ygo are the designing duo behind Kamondi Couture, a London based
label offering tailored suits and shirts exclusively for women. The
label was created in 2006 after the two friends were given traditional
African fabrics as gifts while on holiday in Uganda. The uniquely
patterned fabrics inspired the pair to design tailor-made shirts.
Following countless compliments, the pair spotted a gap in the market
and saw great potential to offer well made shirts using unique and
unusual prints.

Maryland based Ugandan Designer, Solome Katongole specializes in

sophisticated and sexy. She explores and mimics art with fabrics to
create garments that are sexy, sophisticated, and make a statement.
Solome holds a bachelors of science in Biology and is a graduate of the
Los Angeles Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. Her
beautiful designs have graced the runways of Africa Fashion Week New
York, Boston Fashion Week “Fashion Expose” and at Mercedes-Benz of
Buffalo fashion week 2011

Born in London, England and raised between the fast paced London and Kampala, GloRia WavaMunno
graduated from the American Intercontinental University London in
2008. A year later, in January 2009, she founded her own label, GloRia WavaMunno debuting her first ever collection, Love. Her use of African Kitenge
fabric from all over Africa in modern-cut designs captures the passion
for her homeland, its vast culture, and wealth of inspiration. She has a
signature style of authentic fabrics, sharp tailoring, sensual designs
and individuality. The
brand’s light, eccentric clothing for women has received wide
acclamation in the African World of fashion. Her line offers bespoke
blazers to tailored garments. The company is currently based in Kampala,

Sijuade Taiwo Adeshina is a model you will love. he’s tall, well

HOW AND WHEN DID YOU GET INTO MODELING?
I got into modeling in the United States of America. Actually, I started officially about six months ago, but prior to that I was asked by different agencies in my school which was in Alabama but I also did some shows with Ralph Lauren while I was in Alabama and then officially I started in April in New York with a couple of agencies.
HOW AND WHEN DID YOU GET INTO MODELING?
I got into modeling in the United States of America.
